Dr. Sukanya Biswas

Certified Psychologist & Mental Health Expert

Dr. Sukanya Biswas holds a Doctorate in Psychology from Amity University, Mumbai and a Master’s degree in Clinical Psychology from University of Pune. She specializes in Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), Rational Emotive Behavioral Therapy (REBT) and Neuro-linguistic Programming (NLP). She is a Certified Practitioner in these modalities, and have worked with a wide range of clients, with a variety of issues.

 

She is passionate about helping people to overcome their struggles and to find a way to live a more fulfilling life. She has more than a decade of extensive experience in researching, designing and delivering therapeutic interventions for individuals and groups. Her memberships and affiliations include APA (American Association of Psychology), IACP (Indian Association of Clinical Psychologists), BCPA (Bharatiya Counselling Psychology Association) and National Human Rights Community of India.

 

She has also published several research papers in various national and international journals. In addition to individual therapy, she also conducts workshops on a variety of topics, including parenting skills, stress management, positive thinking, coping techniques, teacher training, memory improvement techniques, time management, gender sensitivity, and work-life balance. She has worked with many schools and organizations, helping them to create a safe and supportive environment for their students and staff.

 

In addition to her clinical practice, she has also authored three books and developed three psychometric scales published by Prasad Psycho.Corp. She has been the recipient of three national awards and was also awarded Pilar of Maharashtra from the eminent Usha Mangeshkar and Sudha Chandran in recognition of her work. She has developed an International online mentoring program, "Literacy on Mental Health issue among children: Becoming a Mental Health Ambassador" under the UNESCO-Open Education for Better World Programme (OE4BW).

At Risk Adolescent Screening (ARSS)

The Adolescent at Risk Screening Scale (ARSS) is a screening instrument designed to identify at-risk adolescents with potential risk in one or more of 4 dimensions Academic, Psychological, Social, Emotional, and Behavioural risk. It consists of 63 items on a 5-point Likert scale. It can be administered as a self-report questionnaire in a group setting or individually for screening or research purposes. The time required to complete the full assessment ranges from 25 to 30 minutes. It is a practical and user-friendly screening scale for adolescents that could be used in a variety of settings. This tool is intended for identifying at-risk adolescents aged 13 to 16 who are thought to be at risk for future problems. The same form can be used for both boys and girls.

Brief Parenting Self efficacy Scale (BPSS)

The BPSS is a one-dimensional self-report measure that features a 10-item questionnaire assessing parents’ belief in their ability to perform the parenting role successfully for adolescents from 13 to 16 years of age. The response options are presented along a 5-point Likert-type scale for each item. Total score, on a scale of 10 to 50, higher scores indicate a higher degree of parents’ self-efficacy, and lower scores indicate a lower degree of parents’ self-efficacy. It can be administered as a self-report questionnaire in a group setting or individually. The time required to complete the assessment ranges from 5 to 10 minutes. It is a practical and user-friendly assessing scale for parents that could be used in a variety of settings. The same form can be used for both parents.

Brief Adolescent- Parent Relationship Scale (BAPRS)

The Brief Adolescent-Parent Relationship Scale (BAPRS) is an instrument developed to assess parents’ views of their relationship with their adolescents and vice-versa. The instrument consists of 25 items with an adolescent (13 to 16 years) form of 13 items and a parent’s form of 12 items. The item development was limited to content that would be appropriate for adolescents in this age range. It is rated on a five-point Likert scale. Each item is worded positively and rated on a 5-point scale anchored with the terms as Never = 1, Seldom = 2, Sometimes = 3, Often = 4, Always = 5. A total score is then calculated by summing all five items and ranges from 12 to 60 for parents form and 13 to 65 for adolescent form. It can be administered as a self-report questionnaire in a group setting or individually. The time required to complete the assessment ranges from 5 to 10 minutes. It is a practical and user-friendly assessing scale for parents that could be used in a variety of settings. The same form can be used for both parents.
